Meeting Objectives:

 
  • Identify the basic reasons why the current approach to histologic classification of cervical pathology needs basic revision
  • Describe the role of HPV in development of cervical neoplasia
  • Show how recent studies of HPV have altered our view of the relationship between CIN and cervical cancer
  • Describe the histogenesis and classification of newural tumors of the skin
  • Assess the fetal autopsy in a systematic fashion
  • Identify the importance of estimating recurrence risk in the practice of fetal pahthology
  • Apply appropriate validation techniques for both predictive/prognostic and diagnostic markers
  • Describe the basis for immunohistochemical reagent validation
  • Recognize diagnostic histopathological features in Hirschsprung disease and diagnostic limitation inherent in suction rectal biopsies
  • (should be able to) Perform intraoperative frozen section support during surgery for Hirschsprung disease and postoperative analysis of resection specimens
  • Recognize common and uncommon thyroid and other endocrine tumors
  • (should be able to) Use immunohistchemical and molecular markers to diagnose endocrine tumors
  • Describe hitologic features of post-chemotherapy treated prostate cancer that correlate with outcome.
  • Identify features of immunohistochemical assays that affect assay performance
  • Explain concepts in IT driven advances that promote patient safety and quality in Anatomic Pathology
  • Define the status of whole slide imaging technology
